This is a book design and illustration project done in collaboration with
WEST (Women in Engineering, Science & Technology), Sheffield.
Some of my responsibilities included designing the layout of the book, creating illustrations inside and on the cover page of the book, interviewing female engineers based around Sheffield and character designing based on interviews etc.
The aim of this project was to encourage young girls to think about Engineering as their career option. This book features six female engineers working in industry around Sheffield, including Terri the Civil Engineer, Sarah the Mechanical Engineer and Aisha the Power grid Engineer.
The book is written for 7- 9-year-old girls and boys, but other ages will enjoy it too.
Illustrations inside the book are kept black and white in order to allow children to fill in colours.
The engineers were interviewed to understand their background, work and personalities. Based on the information collected through interviews, characters were designed.
